Thriving With Bipolar was founded by Emily Mendez, MS, EdS, a mental health author and former psychotherapist living with bipolar I.
Living with bipolar disorder can feel lonely. But I am here to tell you that you aren’t alone.
It’s possible to live a productive and full life with this mental health condition when you have the right information and support.

My Journey
My name is Emily Mendez. I live with bipolar 1. Before my diagnosis, I was a psychotherapist and a mental health author. Then, in 2022, my world came crashing down around me when I experienced a severe manic episode.
That experience showed me how much misinformation and stigma there is surrounding bipolar disorder.
My goal in starting this site was to help others living with bipolar disorder find trustworthy information and resources about bipolar disorder from someone living with it.
My goal is to enable those living with bipolar to make meaningful changes in their lives and to also help break down the stigma about this disorder.
Thank you for reading!
I Believe That:
“Life with bipolar disorder can still be full of joy, creativity, and meaning.
Therapy, medication, mindset, and lifestyle all play a role in wellness.
Bipolar disorder deserves better stories, ones that show real people. ”
Our Editorial Team
While I am the founder, editor, and lived-experience voice for TWB, I also collaborate with a small but diverse team of mental health writers. They help with writing, research, clinical review, and fact-checking.
This ensures that TWB is a reliable source of information about bipolar disorder for everyone.
With care,
Emily
